Annette + David - Lakeside Autumn Elopement At Deer Lake Park, Burnaby

This lakeside autumn elopement shoot at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, featured on Rocky Mountain Bride, was a dream come true. The beautiful October lighting, the colors of the lake and the nature surrounding us was the perfect backdrop to portray Annette & David’s love story.

We started the elopement day at their beautiful apartment, a loft with the best lighting I’ve ever seen in an apartment. They had breakfast together, I brought Italian pastries and croissants, because, well I’m that kind of Italian who always bring food as nice gesture when I meet people. And I’ll probably do the same at your elopement ha ha.

They, then, changed their outfits in their wedding attire, they both looked absolutely elegant and gorgeous. Annette wore a lovely Fern & Moon dress, called Celeste wrap dress, and David wore a navy blue Gucci suit. I love being able to capture every moment of an elopement day because every detail makes your day special and photographs will make you remember your day as it unfolds, allowing me to be the storyteller of your wedding day.

We then headed to Deer Lake Park. My friend Amanda, Forage & Bloom, and mine’s idea was to create a romantic and elegant elopement inspiration shoot that included a different activity to do on the day of an elopement. This is how we came up with the idea of renting a boat at Deer Lake Park in Vancouver, BC and filling it with flowers while Annette & David had the time of their lives. The Park was very quite that day and they were able to enjoy those beautiful moments together before the ceremony.

A big part of my job as photographer for your elopement day is to help you find the best spot to have your ceremony. I went location scouting a week before the shoot and I saw a lovely tree with yellow leaves, perfect as a ceremony spot. After weeks of rain, the sun showed up on the day of the shoot and we got blessed with the most perfect fall light, making Deer Lake Park an amazing location for an elopement.

I’m so excited to share these images, elopements are my jam and I feel overjoyed when I’m able to photograph a magical day such as this one.
