If you’re dreaming of natural, vibrant family photos in Vancouver, Jericho Beach is one of my favorite locations — and this sunny morning session reminded me exactly why. With soft morning light, lush greenery, and sparkling ocean views, it’s the perfect backdrop for families wanting a mix of nature and beach.
I had the pleasure of photographing two proud moms and their sweetest, smiley 6-month-old baby boy. The morning sun cast a warm, golden glow, filtering through the trees and lighting up every smile and snuggle with that unmistakable fresh, calm vibe. It’s always a privilege to document these fleeting milestones, especially when the light and location come together to create timeless images.

Morning light has a magical quality — soft, warm, and gentle — which is especially beautiful for capturing the tender connections of family life. For this family, we started in the shaded greenery, letting the filtered morning light highlight their connection and baby’s joyful expressions. Then, we moved down to the beach to create relaxed, natural portraits with a stunning Vancouver beach backdrop.

As a Vancouver family photographer, I’m always looking for locations that allow for variety in a single session. Jericho Beach delivers every time.
During this session, we started in the forest. The tall trees gave us beautiful, filtered light that was perfect for some peaceful cuddles and gentle family moments. Baby was full of smiles, and with two loving moms to keep him entertained, it didn’t take long to capture those joyful expressions.
Afterward, we made our way down to the shoreline, where we soaked up the golden light and created some relaxed, candid images with the ocean in the background. Barefoot toes in the sand, wind in the hair, laughter in the air — everything I love about family photography in Vancouver.
